How to celebrate Online New Year's Eve at Home
It’s finally over. The longest year has come to a close. Now it’s time to celebrate Online New Year’s Eve and send 2020 out with a bang and put this year far, far, FAR behind us.
Much like most things this year, New Year’s Eve celebrations are going to look very different. For example, instead of going out for an evening of excitement, we are opting to stay safe and stay inside.
Many couples in long-distance relationships aren’t able to reunite for this special day. It’s heartbreaking to be apart from the one you love and not be able to set goals for the New Year and kiss away the old one at midnight. For my fiance and I, this is our first New Year’s Eve apart, so we’re looking to make this evening exciting and creative despite the distance. As a long-distance couple, we are always looking for ways to make our virtual dates unique and special.

Look back on photos and memories from 2020
If your 2020 was anything like mine, you may think you don’t have a lot of good memories from this year. We’ve all gone through so many challenges due to the global pandemic, but those difficult moments are just as important to remember. We can see how different circumstances affected us, and try to grow from what we’ve gone through.
Everyone’s 2020 has been different, but looking back for positive memories is a great way to practice gratitude. For example, maybe you weren’t able to see your partner as much as you would have liked; but perhaps a silver lining is that you were able to appreciate on what relationships are truly important to you.
Set resolutions, goals, and intentions for 2021
We always start January with the best intentions, and we all have been given a new year to make a new start. Take ownership for your actions, and change your habits to support your resolutions for this year. Be sure to write down your goals for 2021 and make sure to add actionable steps to reach that goal.

Make your virtual celebration a classy event by putting on something sparkly and fun! We may not be able to go out this year, but we can still put on our best. A bow tie, some heels, and a little extra flair go a long way to making a night feel a little more celebratory.
Set up some party decorations
Add some colour and some fun to your evening with some balloons, streamers, and some glittery fun. Maybe set a colour theme for your evening and have each attendee set up some matching decor. A few dollars at your local dollar store can step up your virtual date-night to an enviable level.
Hold a Zoom Online New Year's Eve Party
2020 was a mess and we deserve to have a moment of celebration with our loved ones; so this year hold a New Year’s Eve Party on Zoom! Zoom has allowed users to go past the 45 minute limit on group calls for the holidays.
Take advantage of this offer by sending a link to a virtual party to your friends and family, and ringing in the new year through the screen.
Light up some sparklers and candles
Instead of fireworks and city lights, create a cozy and sparkly evening with some sparklers and candles. Spread some warmth and light as we walk into a bright new year!
Pour some bubbly over a video call
You may not be at a bar this year celebrating, but you and your date can still pop a bottle of some bubbly wine, champagne, cider, or even some soda! I think some bubbles and a fun cocktail is a great way to make your virtual date night fun and exciting. Your online New Year’s event can always use an extra bit of sparkle!

Party supply stores have a variety of fun mini confetti poppers. When you can’t kiss your loved one, or make a toast to a happy new year; having a little bit of fun confetti to let fly into the air can help us to remember the fun in our lives that still exists.
